Benefit Concert – 25 Years of M.W.A.N.Z.A. e.V. Two well-known choirs sing for Würzburg’s partner city in Tanzania

In November 2009, the renowned gospel-rock-pop choir Voices visited the partner city Mwanza in Tanzania and performed several concerts there. The collaboration and enthusiasm have not waned over the years. For a benefit concert in support of M.W.A.N.Z.A. e.V. on October 26 at St. Stephan, Voices will perform together with the choir Ton-in-Ton. Like Voices, the popular Hanau ensemble delights audiences with vibrant gospel songs, well-known chart hits, and moving ballads. The singers of both highly experienced ensembles will entertain the audience with great arrangements and captivating groove. Their singing creates an inspiring energy that flows into the ears and hearts of listeners, touching and moving them. For a rousing finale, 100 singers will take the stage together – goosebump moments guaranteed.

All proceeds from the concert with Voices and Ton-in-Ton will go entirely to the social projects of M.W.A.N.Z.A. e.V. These include, in particular, the promotion of girls in Mwanza, support for a school for young people with disabilities, medical emergency care, and vocational training courses.

The benefit concert will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in St. Stephan Church, Wilhelm-Schwinn-Platz 1. Admission starts at 4:30 p.m. Tickets, ranging from €10 to €18, will be available in advance starting September 20, 2025, at www.okticket.de or at the Weltladen, Plattnerstraße 14. Weeks Against Racism

There will be a Zoom conversation on March 22nd at 5 p.m (German time); 7 p.m. Tanzanian time with actors from Mwanza, Würzburg’s twin city.

“Experiences with racism and colonialism in city-/twinning relationships”

People from both cities report.

We asked people from Mwanza whether there is racism or colonialism in their country: the head of an institution for the disabled, a Franciscan nun who has spent her whole life in Tanzania, a Tanzanian student currently studying in Schweinfurt, and an IT teacher in Mwanza.

Also people who have to do with the town twinning here: from the town twinning office, from a marriage to a Tanzanian, an IT manager and a critical journalist.

We are looking forward to the exchange.
